The pretty little hamlet of La Celle lies in rolling hills above the valley of the Gartempe river.  La Celle is within the commune of Lathus St Remy.
It is near to the border of the Vienne in Poitou-Charentes and the Haute-Vienne of the Limousin. 

The area is criss-crossed by a well maintained network of walking/bridle paths giving no excuse for not getting your daily exercise.

The hamlet itself has a small community hall, a child minder, a village green and pond and regularly wins local village in bloom competitions.

The village has a great community feeling with small club house for ad hoc events.  The village green and pond are owned by all the residents of the hamlet and maintained by the local council in Lathus St Remy.  

The hamlet regularly wins local competitions for best kept gardens and communal areas.

Local businesses do service the hamlet with regular deliveries of bread, fish/meat and even wine, for the residents. It's possible you might have to arrange some of these things with the shops directly to find out their schedule. Do however listen out for the loud tooting of a van. I frequently have managed to buy bread and various pastries ad hoc from visiting traders by just following that sound!

Only five minutes via country path or road is the town of Lathus, home to two bakeries, a doctor's surgery, chemist's, school, small supermarket, post office, bank, florist, news agent, florist and a train station.  
Four trains a day connect you with the cities of Poitiers and Limoges and the local market towns of Montmorillon and Le Dorat.

The Marie (town hall) is located in Lathus St Remy where the staff are friendly and helpful.  Lathus can be accessed by road or one of the networks of paths from La Celle.  

The Grand Etang is a large lake only 2 kilometers away where you can take boats out, or just relax by the shores.

The fantastic CPA outdoor activity centre (Centre de Plein Air) is only 2kms from La Celle on the side of the Gartempe river. The centre offers education and activities for both children and adults in a multitude of outdoor sports including kayaking, horse-riding, mountain-biking, sailing, climbing and caving.
